Cookies and website measurement

Cookies and browser storage used for enquiries, preferences, website analytics and advertising page-view measurement.

Last updated

We use essential storage to keep the enquiry form working, avoid duplicate submissions and remember your cookie choices. Optional Google Analytics and DN enquiry-context measurement start only when you allow their purpose. Meta advertising page views run separately, as described below.

You can change your choices using Cookie preferences in the footer.

Cloudflare separately measures page performance without cookies or browser storage. These performance metrics are not linked to your enquiries or client records. The optional Google Analytics and enquiry-context choices below retain their separate consent controls. See the privacy notice for details.

Choose either optional purpose

Website analytics uses Google Analytics to understand website use. Enquiry context lets DN Media save pages and links viewed in this browser and associate that history with an enquiry you send. You can allow either, both or neither. Both start off, and rejecting them does not prevent reading, search or enquiries.

An optional choice lasts up to 90 days from agreement without renewal on visits. Refusal or withdrawal is remembered for 180 days. If the purposes change materially, we ask again; an earlier bundled choice does not enable the new separate choices.

NameProviderPurposeMaximum lifetime
dn_enquiry_ followed by a random referenceDN MediaEssential enquiry retry reference, helping avoid duplicate submissions. It contains no form text or contact details and cannot be read by page scripts.90 days; no more than eight retained form references.
Random reference in the current browser history entryDN MediaFinds the enquiry's original retry reference when you return to the enhanced form. It contains no name, email or message.Your browser's history lifetime.
dn_measurementDN MediaRemembers your separate purpose choices, their version and expiry. While a change or withdrawal is unconfirmed, it may also keep an available Google browser identifier solely to send the erasure request; that identifier is removed after confirmation.90 days for agreement or an unconfirmed change; 180 days for refusal or withdrawal.
__Host-dn_journeyDN MediaSecure, HttpOnly capability for enquiry context, only when that purpose is allowed. It does not contain contact details.Remaining 90-day grant period.
__Host-dn_analytics_consentDN MediaSecure, HttpOnly confirmation of an Analytics-only choice. It does not create a DN browsing history or link that history to enquiries.Remaining 90-day grant period.
_ga and _ga_ followed by the configured stream suffixGoogle AnalyticsBrowser identifiers, only when website analytics is allowed.Remaining 90-day grant period, with renewal disabled.
In-memory optional event bufferDN MediaHolds up to ten small enquiry-context events in an open page before sending them, within 30 seconds.Cleared on withdrawal or page closure; no offline event history is saved.

Essential enquiry references support the action you request. A confirmation link is temporary, and clearing the retry cookie can prevent the website recognising an earlier save. Check any existing confirmation before deliberately submitting a new enquiry.

Change or withdraw a choice

Reopen Cookie preferences, change either option and save, or choose Reject all. Withdrawal stops the selected purpose in open tabs, removes its browser identifiers and discards unsent activity.

If a separate-purpose change cannot be confirmed, both collectors pause and your intended choices are remembered. Reopen Cookie preferences, check those choices and save again to retry. This pause does not request erasure of a purpose you kept on. An unconfirmed Reject all request retries when the device reconnects.

Withdrawing enquiry context erases the associated DN browsing observations and source snapshots from ordinary use, including their links to enquiries. A restricted erasure record protects against an older backup restoring those observations. Core enquiries remain available to answer your request and manage the business relationship.

Withdrawing website analytics creates a request for review of identifiable data held by Google, using the browser identifier where it is available. This does not automatically erase every historical Google report. We review recipient requests and explain any applicable legal exception. Anonymous aggregate reports are separate from identifiable browsing records. Contact Robin at contact@dnmedia.marketing if you need help with a request, including after clearing browser storage.

Google Analytics is configured for 14-month user/event retention with reset on new activity off. Aggregated reports follow Google's own retention behaviour. These provider settings are separate from the 90-day permission to collect on this site.

What measurement excludes

We do not send enquiry text or contact details to Google Analytics. Google Analytics and DN enquiry-context measurement exclude raw search terms, private confirmation links and unapproved campaign values.

Meta advertising page views

The website also uses Meta Pixel for advertising page-view measurement. On canonical public pages, its PageView is independent of the Google Analytics and DN enquiry-context choices above.

The JavaScript Pixel does not run on private enquiry/confirmation pages, search and measurement utilities, local previews, or URLs containing a query or fragment. A no-JavaScript image fallback is present on indexable public pages and sends no referrer.

Meta may use browser identifiers and information about website visits under its privacy policy and cookie policy. These Google/DN preference controls do not currently control the Meta Pixel. Fonts and branding are served with the website.

A saved enquiry can exist without an Analytics event, including after refusal, a blocked request or a closed tab. Staff sign-in is a separate protected service; public visitors do not need an account.

Browser controls and further information

Your browser can show, block or remove site storage. Blocking all storage may affect requested functions or remembered choices. Removing a preference can mean the site no longer knows your choice. ICO guidance explains cookies and browser controls.

See our privacy notice for saved information, retention reviews, processing outside the UK and your rights. External services have their own policies.
